Why Host With Us?

Rigorous Matching Criteria: Our primary goal is for you and the new addition of your family to have the best experience possible! Because of that, we have multiple levels of matching to ensure the best possible fit before the homestay starts.

Location-Based Cultural Training: The most common reason for bad homestay experiences is a lack of cultural awareness and understanding. Before bringing in or becoming a new family member, we make sure all parties are knowledgeable and prepared for overcoming common cultural misunderstandings and areas for tension.

We Truly Care and Want to Grow Together: We are all here on planet earth together and it is our responsibility to continue to grow and do what we can to make it a better place. We will do our best to do that because we truly care about your family, your community, and our planet! If you ever feel like we have come up short in any aspect of your experience with us, we are ready to take constructive feedback to ensure you are having the perfect homestay experience.

Why Even Host?

Cultural Exchange: Share your culture with someone new and learn about a new culture, enriching your family's global perspective.

Lifelong Friendships: Form deep, meaningful connections that often last a lifetime and prompt future travels.

Personal Growth: Hosting encourages adaptability, openness, and understanding, fostering personal growth among family members.

Enhanced Empathy: Gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by international students, fostering empathy and kindness.

Culinary Adventures: Explore new cuisines and cooking techniques together with your new family member.

Diverse Perspectives: Expose your family to different viewpoints, encouraging open-mindedness and critical thinking.

Eventful Household: Enjoy a more dynamic and vibrant household environment with new experiences and celebrations.

Why You Shouldn't Host

Financial Motivation: Hosting primarily for financial gain without a genuine interest in cultural exchange can lead to a negative experience for both parties.

Lack of Space: Insufficient space to comfortably accommodate an additional person could strain household dynamics.

Limited Time: Families with extremely busy schedules may not have the time to engage meaningfully with their new family member.

Unprepared for Cultural Differences: If unprepared to embrace and respect cultural differences, misunderstandings and conflicts can arise.

Privacy Concerns: Families valuing a high level of privacy might find hosting intrusive.

Inflexible and Not Understanding: Bringing in a new family member is a change to the environment and requires a certain level of flexibility and understanding.

Lack of Commitment: If the family is not fully committed to the responsibilities that comes with having a new addition to the family, it isn't fair to the new family member.

Not Ready for Long-Term Commitment: Our homestays primarily range from 3 months to 4 years. While there may be occasional opportunities for shorter durations, host families should be ready to commit for a minimum of 3 months.

High-Stress Household: Homestay families should be emotionally available to take on a new addition to the family. Since hosting a student necessitates understanding and patience with cultural differences, already starting from a point of high-stress is a recipe for disaster.

Absence of a Supportive Environment: If the family cannot provide a supportive, encouraging environment for the student’s studies and cultural adaptation.
